Hey Lauren,
Just found your blog through Libby L's blog. I've enjoyed having a bit of a look around.
I must say, you have me a little scared. We are expecting #3 in early December. At that time #1 will be 2 years, 7 months and #2 will be just under 17 months. We are still in shock and disbelief. It took quite awhile for #1 to come along, and now we find ourselves here. We feel very blessed by God, but also quite wary of what is ahead.
I hope you will continue to update your blog. I'm sure I will need all the help I can get from someone who has been there (most of my friends have only 1 or 2 children, or "sensible" age gaps of over 2-3 years between children).
Incidently, I think I may know your husband from uni days. He was a few years ahead of me, but I did Speech Path and we were in ECU together.
Hi Julie,
Sorry to miss your comment. Hope you are going ok with your three. You must be right in the thick of it.
God give you the strength you need. Some tips. Spend time in his word, give it all to him. Watching others and giving it to others can just make you feel inadequate, complaining about your lot and hearing what they do can make you start wishing you had it easy 'like so and so'. Remember look to Christ as 'normal', not to other families. We are all imperfect & he only gives you what he knows you can handle with his help. Keep going to him for strength. Pray when you're tired, pray when you're cranky, pray when you're happy.
I used the Ipod a lot in those early days. You can listen to sermons washing up & doing the washing, you can listen to the bible audio too. Try some Mark Driscoll sermons from Mars Hill church. The 1 & 2 Peter series were great for hardship!
I don't blog anymore because it plays out as neglect in my family. I was always looking for a moment to blog instead of spending time doing the jobs I was meant to do. Remember having these three kids close together is what God has called you to do. Enjoy submitting to your husband and discipline yourself to do the work it takes to care for your family. It will be hardest when you are tired to be motivated so ask God for his motivation. Often my best moments of cleaning after a day of praying I would get it done come just after dinner when suddenly everyone is happy or in bed.
Much love and prayer for you and your husband. Remember the reason no one has written the right book/blog/website for you is that no one else is you. I often red a book and get all excited about trying something new then realise that the person who wrote it had their kids 4 years apart.
May God bless & keep you all and grow your children into mighty Servants of our Lord Jesus.
Love in Christ Lauren
Thanks for the reply Lauren. We are in the thick of it and it is going surprisingly well, praise God!
As I say to my husband, when I have 10 minutes of "terrible" (e.g. all three kids either upset or needing my attention), I only have to wait another 10 minutes and things usually settle down. It is a real roller-coaster.
I am finding it hard to get into God's word consistently though. It goes well for a couple of days, then all falls apart. Might try some sermons.
Thanks for your encouragement. I respect your decision not to blog. I know it can become all-consuming if we are not careful.
Blessings to you and your family, Julie
