Three Kids and Getting out Early
We've really enjoyed the summer mornings. Being early risers we have taken the opportunity to get out to parks early before the sun gets too hot.
Where we live we are blessed with a number of parks within walking distance and more within close driving distance. It is a great place to have small children. Lately we've been out the door by 8.15am - some days 7.15am depending on the 6mo. The 3yo rides his 'big' bike or his 'two wheel scooter' (both of which are objects of great pride). The 2yo rides his three wheeled, plastic, motorbike or hitches a ride in the pram. If we ride it takes about 20minutes to get to a park then we stay for about 2hours before heading home.
I've been taking a picnic rug for the baby, snacks for morning tea, drinks and matchbox cars. It is sublime. We are generally the only people at the park for the first hour watching the day come to life. The kids have the run of the trees, the equipment and bike tracks. I can see them from the rug when I am playing with the baby and the baby can see me when I am playing with one or both of her brothers.
By the time other parents arrive, coffee in hand, to rush their children through the swings (sometimes for as little as 5mins playtime) we are very chilled.
The baby has started to enjoy swings and slides with her brothers. Somewhere along the line she will take her morning nap. Some days she sleeps longer than others so I try to have a couple of 'catch up' days at home in the week.
Arriving home we have an iceblock, watch playschool, then the boys tend to play beautifully, with all their toys, having had the chance to let of all their steam before it could build up.

This sounds like a perfect morning! We would LOVE to get to the park, but it is pretty difficult to spend too much time outside as the high has been around 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The joys of winter and longing for the Spring. However, we have walked to the library a couple times when the weather has been a little warmer.
Winter is so much harder especially when the sun has no heat in it. We have a freezing yard but usually on a fine winter's day can find warm sun at a park somewhere. 10 deg F is minus in Celsius. We don't get anywhere near minus where we live. You must be freezing! Any snow? I find in winter getting the layers on the kids is very tricky!
